FRENCH COUNTRY FURNITURE
In several converted barns on Manor Farm, Heyshott, Nr Midhurst, West Sussex, we renovate French Country Furniture obtained from frequent visits to French fairs and country sales. Bruce Sedgwick, our principal restorer - illustrated bending down fixing a French antique table - travels widely throughout France from Provence in the South to Brittany in the North searching for the choicest Country Style French Antiques many of which come from farmhouses in these areas.

"It's impossible not to want to caress and feel French Country Antiques" says Bruce Sedgwick. "The unique colour, grain and craftmanship have to be touched to be really appreciated". He likes potential buyers to visit his barn-workshop which nestles in the beautiful Sussex countryside beneath the gentle rise of the South Downs at Heyshott.

Wild Wood French Country Furniture includes all the well known woods: ash, oak, beech, pine, cherry and walnut. Every piece of furniture is lovingly checked, where necessary restored, hand polished, protected against insect infestation and wax finished before going on to adorn fine homes thoughout Britain.

The inspiration for French Country Furniture comes from the landsape and heritage of the French provinces such as Provence, Normandy, Brittany, Isle de France and Val de Loire and the style resonates with the atmospheric palettes of the French impressionist painters like Cezanne, Monet , Manet, Matisse and Van Gogh. Terracotta reds contrast with cobalt blue and deep woodland green and bright sunflower yellows.

The West Sussex countryside colours are quieter with our temperate climate and frequent cloudy days. Bruce's workshop barn with its Downs view is, nevertheless, a true complement to French Country Furniture with its vibrancy, rich textures and beautiful lines. Our regular clients visit from Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex and London, but others visit whilst on holiday from as far afield as the USA.
